Lonely Planet review

This highly opulent five-star hotel has more than one extravagant entrance - it has two of them. This split-personality establishment has all the trimmings: views, facilities galore and rooms that provide sanctuary as well as views across central KL.There's a constant line of traffic rolling off the banyan-tree-lined street. Some alight at the Renaissance Wing, with its blinging chandeliers and lobby of pillars and flooring decked out in silky black marble. Others pull up at the New World Wing, which isn't as grand as the Renaissance (though not much is). The key colour of the New World Wing is beige, seen in everything from the pillows to the pillars. The Renaissance Wing is home to the more expensive rooms, kitted out with ornate furniture and other European trimmings. The New World Wing rooms are more subdued but no less luxurious. The New World Wing also gets views of the Petronas Towers. There are seven restaurants including Sagano, which is authentically Japanese, right down to the tatami rooms. There's also a colossal curvy pool, all-weather tennis courts and a grandiose ballroom-cum-high-tech-convention centre for when you feel like celebrating.
