Bamber House is well known among travellers for its quality accommodation, big block of land, good management and quiet suburban location, meaning that this is a comfortable and almost comforting hostel choice.The original house here is a good-boned mansion of sorts, with an impressive main staircase and some nicely maintained period trimmings plus plenty of space for its 60-odd guests to stretch out. There's a stack of information and tour bookings available to combat the lethargy that often seems to strike when a hostel is this welcoming, plus a heated outdoor pool and a bouncy trampoline. Or head across the road for a game of tennis. In the newer wing of the property there are modern rooms that accommodate both dorm dwellers and guests wanting rooms of their own. Good kitchen and bathrooms here make it preferable to the older wing for these things, but there's a definite suburban quality to the building's architecture.
