Lonely Planet Review
The city's only HI hostel is a two-minute walk south along Viale Angelo Salmoiraghi from the QT8 underground stop. It's clean, but not really convenient. HI cards are compulsory.
Visiting this hostel, somewhat inconveniently located near San Siro Stadium, can serve as a reminder of all the drawbacks of share accommodation. When we visited, there were several pairs of underwear hung up to dry on the brickwork exterior of the hotel. Still, as it's so much cheaper than even the worst fleapit of a hotel in Milan, it is excellent value. Besides, it's the only hostel in town. It's always busy too, so you'll probably be bunking with strangers; thankfully, there are lockers for your valuables. It's quite clean, with share bathrooms, and there's a reasonable breakfast, but the curfew is a bit inconvenient.

Author Tip
There's a mass exodus from here every morning as travellers head to the Metro and with good reason: there's nothing really out here of interest except for the odd football match. While the Metro is reliable and frequent, it's about half an hour on the train from the Duomo.
