Lonely Planet review

Giddy-up. Cowpokes and country folks, and the rest of us who love a good budget hotel with a bit of character, should give this quirky place a try. Rooms are spacious, tastefully furnished with faux period pieces, have good wood floors and bathrooms with massage showerheads.Though we suspect it's unintentional, the hotel's red-brick exterior and a green wood-post frame really looks at first glance like an old Wild West facade. In any case, the hotel is just as popular for its ambience as its good prices. Just think, you can stay here and enjoy the colours and textures, or you can pay the same for a regular hotel room with white walls, cheap fixtures and bland carpeting. The Red is a little far from the big-ticket wonders of Beijing (unless you consider the Sanlitun St one of these) but it's close to the BRT so it's easy to get around.
