The Four Seasons is one of the city's most elegant lodgings, where a platoon of grey-suited staff hop to your every need. Just over a decade old, it was designed to resemble a French-Mexican late-19th-century structure, a genuine anomaly amid Paseo de la Reforma's glass-and-steel monoliths.

Rather than flirting with modernity, the hotel goes for a classic opulence, which is evident from the lobby salons, with their Louis XV armchairs and settees, to the aristocratically furnished guest rooms, with an average 56 sq m of floor space. Most of these face a beautifully landscaped central courtyard, a mix of tropical foliage and French Renaissance - witness the Versailles-style terraces at the north end. This is where you'll find the Mediterranean-themed Reforma 500 restaurant and El Bar, a cozy salon that is meant to evoke an English living room (and it is not unusual to hear English chatter within). The latter serves a brilliant buffet breakfast. Catering to top-tier business travellers, the Four Seasons hosts countless press conferences, product launches and board meetings.
