Lonely Planet review

Run by a charming and informative young couple, this clean, well-maintained guesthouse is a favourite of many travellers. Facilities include internet access, bicycle rental, laundry, money exchange and free tea and coffee. This is probably the best choice in this price bracket.Kyoto has always attracted its share of backpackers, and it's always housed them in run-down guesthouses and dilapidated ryokan (traditional Japanese inns). With the opening of Tour Club, all this has changed. Finally, Kyoto has a backpackers' place that you'll actually look forward to returning to after a long day of temple hopping. All private rooms have a private bath and toilet, and there is a spacious quad room for families. The owners of Tour Club couldn't be more welcoming. Their excellent bilingual staff will sort out all your travel needs quickly and efficiently. Rooms range from well-maintained dorms to excellent private rooms. The private rooms were recently renovated and expanded, making the Tour Club an economical alternative to Kyoto's many business hotels. Best of all, Tour Club is walking distance from JR Kyoto Station, and even staggering under the weight of a big backpack, you can make it within 15 minutes.
