Address: Takakura-oike-dori, Nakagyo-ku , Kyoto 604-8105, North-east asia Show on map
This is one of the cheapest hotels (when compared to other business hotels) in town and has a convenient location and clean rooms. It's good value and has a loyal following of foreign guests. It's also handily located near two subway lines.Oike-dori runs right through the heart of Kyoto, and the Gimmond commands pride of place right in the middle of it. This well-run hotel is a good midrange choice for both business and sightseeing, a fact recognised by its many guests. You'll be welcomed at the neat wooden front desk by staff accustomed to foreign guests. There is little to distinguish the rooms here - they are just your basic midrange hotel rooms, but they are perfectly adequate. The real plus here is the convenient downtown location. Both Western and Japanese breakfasts are served in the main restaurant, and there is a cool basement restaurant with a limited picture menu to help with ordering. There are three nonsmoking floors, and the lobby is usually free from smoke as well. With two subway lines within five minutes' walk, you'll certainly find the Gimmond a good base for operations in Kyoto.
