Past the striking glass-fronted lobby are 78 modern rooms that make full use of the visual impact of primary colours, most notably red and blue. This is a business hotel par excellence; everything is what you'd expect from a top four-star (including a gym and business centre), but what you won't find elsewhere is the marvellous view of St Stephen's Green.Fall into the comfortable leather couches in the lobby and you know you're somewhere decent, despite the dodgily named Magic Glasses bar to one side and the conscientiously wheelchair friendly Pie Dish bistro to the other. Upstairs, there's nothing dodgy at all, just very comfortable rooms that are packed midweek by the business crowd but are more popular with leisure travellers at weekends. The rooms, off rows of plain grey corridors lined with dark wood doors, are divided between standard - king-sized beds, nice bathrooms, satellite TV - and executive, which is a standard plus a small living room...and a balcony. And that's the real treat, for the views of Dublin from the upper floors are terrific. An interesting touch is the fragrance throughout the building - each room and corridor is assiduously sprayed every day with a mild air freshener. There is wi-fi throughout and ISDN lines in every room.

Kick back and get rid of the business blues around the corner on Wexford St with drinks and dancing in The Village (26 Wexford St).
The Magic Glasses bar and the Pie Dish bistro are named after works by a largely forgotten Irish playwright called George Fitzmaurice.
