It's hard to stand out as part of a big chain, but the three Greek sisters who own Hotel Tria have pulled it off. High-end, artsy touches give you plenty of fodder to chew on from the minute you walk in. And staff dedicated to inventive personal touches sweetens your stay.
Enter the lobby, drop your bags and dive into the sweet oasis of an indoor pool that beckons from the entrance. At the check-in desk, guests can choose their own scents from a selection of locally handmade soaps, rather than endure the ennui of yet another industrial, white cake. Head up to your room, pop the 'calming' CD placed thoughtfully on the bedside table into the player and wrap yourself in a thick, leopard-patterned robe for a restful evening. Better still, call for their free Harvard Sq shuttle for a night on the town. A couple of entirely adequate restaurants are nearby, although one requires nerves of steel to make it across the Indy-500-like traffic rotary. A Whole Foods Market and Starbucks next door offer sustenance.
