Lonely Planet Review
Has this no-nonsense hotel remained on the budget tour map for such a long time because of its fortune? Or is it because it's in a prime location near the reviving old town, and just minutes from riverside biking and ferries that can whip you up to the tip of Taiwan?
Yes, we think it's all about location here unless you are looking for small rooms, firm beds, showers without curtains, and a cool front-desk staff. That said, this is one of the few hotels that has true single rooms and so it's not a bad deal for one traveller looking for a private room. Couples could probably do better elsewhere for the same price, but again, the location scores a lot of points. Our only serious complaint is that the MRT is a little too far away. But taxis are cheap and it will cost less than 100.00 to get to the nearest station if you don't fancy the 10-minute walk.

Author Tip
For cheap, local foods, concentrated into one area, try the Jiancheng Circle Food Court. Historic Dihua Market and Baoan Temple are just northwest of you. If you continue to the riverside you'll reach the attractive new Dadaocheng Wharf where you can rent bikes or catch a ferry to Fisherman's Wharf in Danshui. You can even take a bike on the ferry and then ride back to your starting point.
