Lonely Planet Review

Quotes The Cosmos puzzles with its attempts at high luxury mixed and matched with merely decent quality accommodation. So just ignore that sweeping marble and polished glass staircase in the main lobby. Your room is not going to be grand and luxurious, but softly lit and cosy.

This hotel really isn't quite sure what it wants to be. It's one of the few in this price range to offer bellhops, but then they slouch when they walk. It aims to catch the guest's eye with polished surfaces, upholstered chairs, and wood furnishings, but nothing is really top rate. Bathrooms are a little on the small side but the health-club pool and sauna make up for this. In general, this place will please those looking for a better-than-average comfort near the centrally located main train and MRT station.

Author Tip

Northern Taiwan abounds in hot springs. From the MRT station, at your doorstep, you can be in Beitou and soaking in a tub within 40 minutes. If you just want to see the Beitou area, head up to the observatory in the Mitsukoshi building. The Chinese Handicraft Mart just north of Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall is an excellent outlet for traditionally crafted items.
