Lonely Planet Review
You can pretty much judge this hotel from its grey, dull cover. It's doubtful it would be fit for an emperor, but for those looking to be near excellent shopping streets, cultural venues, and Japanese food, the uninspiring, but serviceable rooms will do for a short stay.
But without the big 30% discounts, and good location, it would be a different story. As it is, you will have to endure slightly cheesy designs and dim lighting. Not that any facility or amenity looks worn, or dingy. It just that everything feels of yesteryear here: think polyester bed sheets, gaudy chandeliers, square upholstered chairs, and an imperial buffet restaurant straight from the 70s. Perhaps in another 20 years, the kitsch factor will kick in and this place will be worth something for its retro atmosphere. For now, it's a roof over your head, and not bad surroundings for a decent price.
