Housed in CMU's busy International Center, this cosy hostel offers 88 rooms, all with TV and fridge. Downstairs there's a Doi Wawi cafe and the Lemon Tree restaurant. Room rates include breakfast, and monthly rates are available.

The CMU International Center stands separate from most of the campus, nearer the old city and close to shopping and dining areas along relatively upscale (for Chiang Mai) Th Nimanhemin. Guest rooms are at the back of the building, past the CMU-IC offices and Doi Wawi cafe. Although the decor hovers between plain and tacky, the rooms are clean and all have windows that can be opened if you prefer fresh air to air-conditioning. Each room comes with satellite TV, mini-fridge and telephone. To one side of reception is an Internet centre for guest use. The Lemon Tree serves delicious Thai cuisine at rock-bottom prices in an informal, cafeteria-style atmosphere, while locally based Doi Wawi specialises in espresso drinks made with coffee grown in northern Thailand.
