Lonely Planet Review

A commendable project of a Goan and his German wife, Bhakti Kutir is ecologically sensitive and atmospherically sublime. Yoga and Ayurveda are integral parts of a stay here, as is a midday nap in a hammock on your curtained off cushion-laden verandah.Rooms at Bhakti Khuti are so intertwined with their surrounds that you feel like you're paying for the whole of the coconut grove rather than just your room. The 22 rooms have Goan-style red-tiled roofs, luxuriant mosquito nets and lampshades made out of coconuts. Some have curtains rather than walls, and some bathrooms are open air, allowing you to bathe between bamboo trees under the sun or stars. Rooms are connected by stone pathways, above which nets are strung like spiderwebs to catch lazy leaves. As well as yoga, an Ayurvedic centre and a school for guests' children, Bhakti Kutir has an outdoor restaurant where the parachute roofs heave in the wind like deep-breathing lungs. There are also some coco huts managed just outside of the property. They're average but offer proximity to the atmosphere.
