The kind of place you'll either love or hate, this rundown, dark and dingy hostel is full of friendly people intent on having a good time. Young party animals could well find it hard to leave, but light-sleeping culture vultures be warned!

This grungy, well-worn hostel is ideally located in the centre of town and is incredibly friendly but if you'd like to have some peace and quiet and a bright and airy room, look elsewhere. Threadbare carpets, street-style murals and cramped, dark dorms are the order of the day here and although it's cheap you may be sharing with long-term residents who benefit from reduced weekly rates. The unisex basement showers are dark and rather depressing and the smoky party 'dungeon' is a haven for late-night drinkers. There's a decent kitchen and lounge, Internet access, a fully licensed bar and an effortlessly easy attitude about staff and residents. For anyone more concerned with the next party than fresh paint and new furniture, it's a fun and lively joint with no curfew and little concern for noise levels.
