Lonely Planet Review

This downtown version of the Guesthouse Korea operation is a little more spacious than the one near Hongik University. But it shares the same rough and tumble interior that seems to define the budget backpacker guesthouse experience in Seoul.Walk inside the door and you might be greeted by Kuma, a big and fluffy Alaskan Malamute. Kuma's lackadaisical attitude towards strangers entering the premises is a fitting symbol of this busy but low-key guesthouse whose best feature is proximity to tourist sites, like Changgyeonggung palace. The twin option at first glance might appear pricey but price notwithstanding, Guesthouse Korea has several advantages including low cost for single travellers, free access to a clothes washing machine (hang dry on the roof) and opportunities to socialise with a thoroughly international crowd. It doesn't seem to have the same daytime chillin' feel as other guesthouses, but this may be due to the central location that makes it easy for travellers to get out and see the sites.
