With oodles of extras, including a free welcome drink and bed sheets, super-clean rooms and the best party atmosphere of any hostel in Vienna, Wombat's is easily the place of choice for the savvy backpacker.Wombat's has won a bunch of Internet awards since it opened a few years ago, and while they can sometimes sound a little dubious, the hostel's facilities speak for themselves. The interior is a rainbow of pastel colours which immediately liven up the reception, bar, corridors and rooms, and whoever the artist was took to cubism like Castro to communism. The hostel's bar is a huge plus, with pool tables, pumping music and chummy pals on bar stools. Staff are experienced and relaxed, even under a deluge of new arrivals. Rooms are clean, bright and breezy but don't offer much more than a comfy bed and place to stash your gear, but if you've chosen to stay here, you won't be wanting much more. Try for a room front side; the back of the hostel faces Westbahnhof's train tracks.
