Behind Le Dixseptième's discreet facade are 24 rooms (including 12 suites) sumptuously and individually appointed. Spacious contemporary studios house original art and Louis XVI-style suites with expansive salons and exposed-beam ceilings, and attention to detail extends right down to shoe horns and emery boards.Steeped in history, Le Dixseptième's preserved features include a magnificently atmospheric creaking oak staircase and original marble fireplaces (the one in the panelled bar is lit in winter, but those in guest rooms are ornamental). The formal breakfast room's laid with white china, weighty silverware and fresh flowers, and looks onto an enchanting little patio which is aglow with candles at night. The modern rooms are named after Belgian painters, the pre-20th century names are all suites. The crême de la crême is the Courtens suite with a wired media/sitting area, original staircase separating its two levels, plush monogrammed towels and robes, scented soaps, and a sun-drenched private terrace with views of Brussels' gargoyled, Gothic Hôtel de Ville (town hall) - the only building on the Grand Place to escape the 1695 French bombardment, despite being the target.

Le Dixseptième has stood on what was Brussels' first paved street since the 14th century; and was rebuilt in the 17th century after the bombing by Maréchal de Villeroy to become the Spanish ambassador's residence.
