Lonely Planet Review

While it's been a long time since this place was anything approaching cosmopolitan, there's still (just) enough charm here to overlook the partially restored scene and disinterested staff that await guests.Make no mistake, this is a gorgeous old building that with a little work would make a fantastic hotel. But work here seems to be, literally, a dirty word. While the rooms are in reasonable shape (especially the renovated ones), the bathrooms, fridges and floors appear not to have had a decent cleaning for quite some time. During our stay, the minibar was never restocked, a reported broken phone was never replaced, and to order room service (stick to drinks), it's quicker to go downstairs yourself. Breakfast is in a lovely old dining room, but the dirty tablecloths and crockery are very off-putting. All of this is a shame, because on first appearances, this is a charming hotel.
