The Kirketon is going through some changes - with its once-famous restaurant and bar undergoing refurbishment and prices plummeting to the easily affordable. Despite all this change, the rooms are still in good shape, the service is still helpful and the location still ideal. That said, this is certainly a 'watch this space' kinda place.

The granite floors are still in the main entrance, the lounge music still plays discreetly in the background and the long dark (almost gloomy-looking but you know they're going for a NY-minimalist feel) corridors promote curiosity of the 'Who else is staying here?' variety. Behind closed doors you'll find either cobalt-blue or fire engine-red carpet - a jolt to the system after all those neutral tones. Nice surprises include Aveda toiletries and Lindt chocolates, plus good bed linen and super-squishy pillows. The good bones of the smart design are holding up well.
