Lonely Planet Review

The Quentin, decorated with colourful murals, rock-star art and contemporary handmade furniture, offers a variety of rooms for weary travellers and visiting performers. There are a range of rooms, from cramped to well sized, and a decent bit of style. There's no air-con, no nonsmoking rooms, no Internet access, rooms are smallish, staff could be warmer, and breakfast is not included. So what's the attraction? 1. Location: Alongside the theatres, music halls, clubs and coffee shops of Leidseplien; and not far from Reguliersdwarsstraat, Amsterdam's gay 'Main Street'. In the other direction, the grand museums of Museumplein. 2. Attitude: The Quentin may be in Old Amsterdam, but the vibe is New Amsterdam, specifically Greenwich Village. 3. Style: Clean and minimalist. Its 26 very bright rooms, are basically well kept despite the occasional missing tile or scuff on the wall. 4. Price: Rooms with shared bath are a very decent deal. All of these reasons make the Quentin popular with the gay community and international performers.
