In addition to the rooms - which either serve as dorms or doubles - there are also mattresses which you can drag out into the courtyard, a great option when Bamako's heat really kicks (the rooms are not particularly well ventilated). This is not a hotel as such - like many Catholic missions across Africa, space is generally reserved for visiting church folk - but we're yet to hear of a traveller being turned away. The benefit of being surrounded by the pious is that the whole place exudes an air of quiet tranquillity. The courtyard is also kept locked - guests are given a key for a returnable deposit - meaning that you're staying in one of the most secure places in town. It also keeps out the touts and would-be guides who prowl the city centre.
