Lonely Planet Review
Set amid lush gardens, the Oberoi is an opulent and tranquil buffer zone against the raging traffic of MG Rd. Decidedly old-school in its decoration, what this five-star performer might lack in trendiness it makes up for in professionalism and class.
The gardens, dominated by a huge raintree, are a highlight of the hotel, and are framed by the balconies of each room, from which vines blooming with red and purple flowers cascade. Dark wood fixtures and furniture, plush stripy sofas and rugs give a colonial feel to the rooms. The premier category is worth the extra expense; these rooms sport walk-in wardrobes, DVD players and separate steam room/showers in the bathrooms installed with their own TVs. The hotel's spa and gym was being upgraded when we visited but promises to be something special. Guests on business will find all their needs well catered to, including wi-fi throughout the hotel and butlers on call round the clock.
