Lonely Planet Review
Don't be put off by the Hostelling International affiliation - this place is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a semblance of comfort at a reasonable price along the Sukhumvit strip. Even better, it's far enough along to avoid the less savoury sois (laneways) around Nana Plaza.
On three long, low levels just back from busy Sukhumvit, the 39 recently opened rooms here cater to a variety of tastes. If you're on a budget but can't stand Khao San, then the 'extraordinary dormitory' is great value. Like all the other rooms, the dorms come with cable TV, air-con, a large fridge, private bathroom and breakfast. The private rooms are more expensive than their counterparts around Khao San, but much, much better value than their equivalents in Sukhumvit. We know, because having checked out several places on or near Sukhumvit this was the first place with rooms big enough to even contemplate swinging a cat, and much cleaner. The hostel adjoins a large courtyard where cheap Thai lunches can be found; there's also a pizza place and an excellent Internet cafe. If you're not an HI member rates can be a fair bit higher, but membership is available on the spot for a small fee.
