Lonely Planet Review
Chic and sleek, this super luxury pad is unflinchingly modern and defiantly cool. The pretentious new kid on the Sathon block, the Metropolitan is a sanctuary of immaculate contemporary style, designed to please and pamper every inch of your person. It is the sister hotel of the Metropolitan in London.
From Armani-clad service to specially-commissioned beauty products. From morning yoga to original artworks. From Bose sound equipment to organic gastronomy. Every last detail has been conceptualised, co-branded, custom-designed and impeccably flaunted. There's a world class holistic spa (Como Shambala), restaurants with top international chefs and the hippest members' bar in Bangkok. The design is contemporary and Thai inspired, all dark wood and white surfaces. The rooms are gorgeous, but somehow lose a touch of comfort in all those cool lines and surfaces (though the magnificent bathrooms more than make up for that). The Met is popular with jetsetting couples, celebrities, Hollywood directors and hip businessfolk. A-list stars love the immense penthouse, with its two-storey windows, private lift and 24hr butler.
