Lonely Planet Review
Another giant mid-range tower on Silom Rd. With its purple-coated bellboys, fancy glass-encased lobby and attractive rooms, the popular Narai welcomes tourists and professionals from around the world. It is well-placed for business trips, and while the immediate area is very impersonal the rest of Bangkok is easily accessible by skytrain or taxi.
Rates here are often generously discounted. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated in tranquil shades, with all the predictable amenities and memorable city views. Superior rooms are more contemporary in style than standard ones and have warm wooden floors. The bathrooms are collectively disappointing, though this tends to be a universal truth in Bangkok. Some rooms have Internet connections and the business facilities are well reputed. In general the Narai is a slick establishment that lacks the shabby feel so prevalent among mid-range options. The suites are thickly carpeted and furnished in olive shades, and feel a bit like some rich aunt's salon. Well, some rich aunt with panoramic views of downtown Bangkok. As well as restaurants and fitness facilities there's a huge, oval-shaped pool surrounded by deckchairs and greenery.
