Lonely Planet Review
The Siam Oriental is a bland multistorey operation with 62 budget rooms of varying sizes and amenities. It's right among it in the middle of Th Khao San and has a large restaurant and a lift. It's well-run but highly impersonal.
The rooms are clean enough but most are noisy, which is to be expected when you're right on the party strip. Not a lot of effort has been put into decor or warmth, though a relatively recent paintjob has covered over a continuous and historical build-up of wall grime. To its credit this place offers a whole variety of rooms, so travellers can find something according to their budget. The in-between rooms actually offer the best value. A room of the 'dank cell' genre can be found for less, and once prices get much higher you can do better elsewhere.
