Lonely Planet Review
Spread out over several renovated flats, some of the larger rooms have charming enclosed terraces looking onto the admittedly noisy street. Mosaic and parquet floors and some nice decorative touches make Hostal Central an attractive option.
To reach the hostel you'll have to pass muster with the motherly building caretaker who knows everyone's business. You then take the 80-year-old lift, which is like a work of art from another age. Push the number one and feel like a local who understands the city's custom of calling the first floor a mezzanine. In actuality, the staff are very friendly once you get to know them and their 'no curfew' policy means you won't be made to feel like an inconvenience no matter how late you return from a night on the town. Free Internet is another bonus.
