Lonely Planet Review
Don't be put off by the abysmal and downright grim staircase leading to this 2nd-floor hostel because this is one of Barcelona's coolest addresses. This is concept backpacking, comfortable, eclectic and founded on the principle that just because you're not paying high prices doesn't mean your rooms have to be without style.
In each room, they've opted for a pea-green and lemon-lime colour scheme, but it's rarely overdone. This is minimalism for backpackers, a place to be seen but without the party vibe of some hostels. Outside, is one of the grittiest lanes of El Raval. Inside, is a sea of colour that can't help but brighten up your day. Above each bed is a strip light in the form of a photo of some aspect of Barcelona from abundant food close-ups to graffiti that somehow fits the El Raval dynamic. Rooms are secure and each behind a green door. Although only some have their own bathroom, the public facilities are invariably clean and well-maintained. There's also free tea and coffee and helpful staff who are right into this new approach to backpacking.
