Lonely Planet Review
Another classic Barcelona facade that promises an entirely different aesthetic within. Rooms aren't enormous, but they are undeniably stylish, with a minimalist's attention to detail and a quality hotel's commitment to comfort. The leafy sun deck on the roof is a haven high above the busy Barcelona streets.
Don't be put off by the name (the Spanish word for England), because the Hotel Inglaterra is Barcelona in a microcosm, taking the best from elsewhere and fusing it into something altogether cosmopolitan. Designer prints from Japan adorn every bed head and the abstract paintings on the walls add further splashes of style. The rooms are large and uncluttered with some delightful touches - fresh flowers, soft lighting and elegant furnishings. The rooms at the front have balconies and the surfaces in each bathroom are a pleasing mottled marble. Style issues aside, all the services you need are at your fingertips: Internet, interactive TV and room service to name a few. Fittingly for this snapshot of Barcelona, the hotel also stands at a crossroads of gritty El Raval, touristy La Rambla, and the residential and shop-saturated L'Eixample.
