Lonely Planet Review

Considering the comfortable rooms, giant multi-level lobby and the prime location across from Plaza Libertad, the Dazzler is decent value. The amount of glass used here is indeed dazzling, but the location is good and services, perfectly acceptable.

Formerly a union hotel, the Dazzler was given a makeover in 2003 that brought out its best: the spacious, multi-level lobby area with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfy chairs and bamboo decorations. The restaurant is relaxed and comfortable, boasting more giant windows and padded chairs to soothe the tush while you fill the belly with a fresh continental buffet breakfast (included in the price). The clientele is mostly business class (hey, this is practically the financial district), but foreign visitors slide right into the scene. Score a room on the upper floors with a view over the plaza and you'll be sleeping in style.

Author Tip

Even if you don't make a performance at the marvellous Teatro Colón - one of the finest opera houses in the world - at least take one of the excellent tours. Walk up to Av Santa Fe and head west for block after block of shopping. Punked out Galerías Bond Street and retro Galerias 5° Avenida are two alternative shopping malls along this mostly upper-end shopping strip.
