Lonely Planet Review

Quotes Here's a low-cost sleep option with a design motif defined by neglect. It is a somewhat downtrodden property but it holds a special attraction for budget travellers interested in value and quick access to Haeundae beach.

The Cheonyeong Jang Motel is like a has-been Hollywood movie star who doesn't know how to fade away gracefully. Wood panelling in the lobby adorned with plants and colourful paintings suggest this might have been something special 20 years ago. Today, the most striking lobby feature is the discoloration around the picture frame that evidently was resized some time in the last millennium. If you can get past the cobwebs dangling in the corners of the staircase, you'll find yourself in a remarkably cheap crash pad, three minutes on foot from the beach. The value-for-buck ratio is especially strong if you squeeze four people into the ondol room: at 12,500 per head, it's the most economical room in Haeundae.
