Lonely Planet Review
Sleeping in a hotel is so last year. Why not spend the night in a mixed-use building above a discount department store? Outstanding value for people who think outside the box and can't pass up a sale on socks and underwear.
The Riviera just might be the city's most underrated mid-range hotel. Although recently remodelled, standard rooms don't really get past the first gate in the race to look good, but it's worth noting that decor choices reflect a coordinated effort, a feat not always evident in some of the city's finer hotels. Step into the Junior or Royal suites and you might find yourself gasping for breath: king size beds, separate baths and Windsor-back chairs coupled with a refined colour scheme neatly come together in a package that oozes cosy. Spacious and bodacious, weekday rates are such incredible value it's easy to overlook minor imperfections like cracks in the wallpaper.
