Lonely Planet Review
The Ashok Country Resort certainly lives up to its name. Set in sprawling green grounds and with rooms that have an unpretentious luxury, this serene oasis is a splendid choice for those who wish to stay in the airport vicinity.
Without a doubt, the major drawcard of this four-star property is its lovely, isolated setting; upon arrival you'll immediately feel as if you've been whisked away to a sequestered retreat in rural India - truly amazing considering the hotel's proximity to the airport and a busy national highway. The rooms aren't of the glamorous five-star genre but are still extremely comfortable, with soft beds (many sporting charming carved wooden bed-heads) and pleasant furnishings. In addition, most of the rooms receive a profuse amount of natural light thanks to large windows - something sorely lacking in most Delhi hotels. The pool isn't particularly large, but it's a relaxing spot to slow the pace with a good book and frosty beverage. When you feel like picking up the pace, burn calories at the hotel's small gym, or perhaps a jog around the restful grounds is more your thing.
