Lonely Planet Review
This vivacious hotel, with 484 swanky rooms, has carved a name for itself as one of Delhi's finest. Overlooking a forested ridge, the Maurya has a particularly admirable clutch of restaurants including the widely acclaimed Bukhara and Dum Pukht. There's also Dublin, a jovial Irish-themed bar.
The hotel's imposing lobby - a tremendous place for people-watching - has been fashioned on the concept of the Mauryan Dynasty's chaitya (temple) hall. The guest rooms are, as you'd expect, very sumptuous, with quality furnishings and the usual five-star features. Certain wings have been specifically geared to the business traveller, such as the Sheraton Tower, which is promoted as a 'hotel within a hotel'; these rooms have access to an exclusive club, library, bar and boardroom. The Maurya's amenities include a proficient business centre with facilities such as high-speed wi-fi broadband, secretarial services and laptops for hire. When it's time to de-stress, there's a health club, beauty parlour and inviting pool. The hotel's restaurants are impressive and include the award-winning Bukhara (North-West Frontier-style food), Dum Pukht (cuisine replicating the ancient culinary tradition of the Nawabs of Avadh) and West View (Italian creations).
