Lonely Planet review

Situated right in the hub of Main Bazaar, the chilled-out Vivek tries hard to offer guests a comfortable stay, with recently renovated rooms and tip-top bathrooms in the thick of the Paharganj crush. You'll sigh with relief upon entering the hotel's cool and composed reception area - a stark contrast to the mayhem outside. Further de-stressing can be achieved at the relaxing rooftop restaurant, Sam's Café, which has tables and chairs strewn around a central garden area, and kitchens churning out Indian, Chinese, Israeli and Italian concoctions, reassuringly open to inspection as you arrive. Vivek's offers a range of rooms, from the small, plain and simple, to the larger and more pleasing, equipped with bathtubs, fridges and Vivek's own line in innovative headboards. The most expensive suites even have a few chandeliers thrown in. This is also one of the few places in Paharganj to have a working elevator (intriguingly wallpapered inside); hence you won't have to sweat it out whenever you head back up to your room.
