Lonely Planet Review

Quotes An unassuming compound set back from the shore road, it's in hailing distance of the New Zealand embassy. There's a serene pool area and 15 rooms, each with their pluses and minuses although all are very quiet.

If you're looking for a single room, the cabanas here are the nicest in town. The rooms are bright and airy and they have kitchens nice enough for you to actually feel like cooking something. But inexplicably, there is only one single bed in each cabana. Double rooms are very large but are located in a building to the back of the compound and are very dark. That's good for snoozing late but not exactly an atmosphere that will have you hopping out of bed in the morning. No matter your choice, the pool is lushly planted and the restaurant is always a solid choice.

Author Tip

Stroll a few minutes east and you'll find Dili's diminutive lighthouse, a natural place for idling away the hours and posing for family photos. Watch the ship traffic steam in and out, whether its small freighters with donated rice or ferries with island-bound divers.
