Lonely Planet Review
This massive hotel and resort complex is said to resemble an ocean liner and indeed it's easy to imagine it just sailing out to sea. Each of 1052 rooms has a decent, if not spectacular, sea view. Well-appointed rooms range in style from Western to Japanese, or a hybrid of both, all with satellite TV.
Don't come here expecting to hang out in your room. In true resort style, you'll be lucky to scratch the surface when it comes to activities. There's a rambling spa, complete with Jacuzzi and outdoor pool. But the amazing 39m tall indoor jungle atrium, with its own waterfall and resident tropical birds, is what brings locals back again and again. For dining, choose from more than a dozen restaurants, along with several bars and oceanside lounges. The Sea Hawk is next to the Fukuoka Yahoo Dome, home to the local professional baseball team, the Hawks. If you want to venture out, the rambling Hawkstown Mall and the Fukuoka City Museum are both nearby.

Author Tip
Escape from the Sea Hawk's scheduled activities long enough to grab a water-taxi or ferry to the little offshore island of Nokonoshima, famous for its dazzling fields of seasonal cosmos and rape flowers. Stop for a seafood lunch at one of the rustic harbour eateries on your way back.
