Lonely Planet Review
South Calangute has kept its head about it, while Candolim and Calangute on either side get more and more congested. Jay's Place is a spacious and minimalist place to stay which upholds the laid-back feel that makes this area a respite from others.
Jay's Place, a four-minute walk from the beach, is one of the newest places in South Calangute, and instantly one of its nicest. You'll be entirely left alone here; these modern apartment style rooms feel nothing like a hotel. Sitting proudly on Holiday St, Jay's stands out because both the building and the grounds show bold determination not to build more or be any more than it is. Each of the five rooms have shiny granite floors and open spaces for reclining on a tastefully cushion-covered lounge. The owners (who live in the twin building next door) have arranged for guests to use the swimming pool across the road. Balconies are conveniently situated for watching people pass on their way to inferior hotels.
