Brightly dressed Mayan women share some gossip at the Sunday market in Chichi (Photographer: Richard I'Anson)

At 2030m (6660ft), the misty highland town of Chichicastenango is surrounded by valleys and overshadowed by looming mountains. Though isolated, it's an important market town, with traders coming from all over the country to hawk their wares at one of Central America's largest indigenous markets.
