Lonely Planet Review
The An An is among the best hotels in the Pham Ngu Lao area. Its big, business-style rooms are fitted out as well (if perhaps not quite as stylishly) as hotels that charge three times the price, and the service is relaxed but efficient.
A few years ago places like this simply did not exist in an area obsessed with low-end budget rooms. How times have changed. Except that the cramped lobby isn't that impressive in face-conscious Vietnam, business people would feel perfectly comfortable here (with big desks and free broadband Internet in each room). And if you're not doing business, who cares? Backpackers can get relative luxury without having to lash out too far. All rooms are the same size and boast large, double-glazed windows (that actually open!) with great views of the surrounding rooftops. And seeing as all rooms have large-screen TVs, safety boxes, well-stocked minibars and bathrooms with tubs, the cheaper 'standard' rooms are clearly the best option. Unbeatable value. Don't forget to take the lift to the roof for wonderful views of the city.
