Lonely Planet Review
In the Dong Khoi shopping district in downtown Saigon, the Dong Do offers good-value if not exactly head-turning accommodation in the city centre. It's very much an Asian hotel and the wooden dragons apparent in the foyer are a clue to what you're getting.
There is a variety of rooms in the tall, thin and startlingly red building. The cheapest rooms only have a window in the bathroom and are consequently pretty dim, but we liked the painting depicting a band of music-playing rats just inside the door. The rooms grow as you step up the price ladder and those at the front have quite good views. However it's from the long, thin, top-floor 'restaurant' that views are best, looking out to the Saigon River: breakfast here is fine way to start a day. Your dollars also buy a safety box and Internet in the foyer, though the hotel's claims of being well-suited to business people are a little overdone.
