Lonely Planet Review
The intimate Guest House California is a relatively recent addition to the Co Giang landscape, and a welcome one at that. The rooms are clean, comfortable and surprisingly inoffensive in design, and the welcome is warm.
In fact, the whole place is pretty well designed from a traveller's point of view. There is a well-equipped communal kitchen on the 1st floor, which is a true rarity in these parts, and a comfortable TV area on the ground floor, which is a good place to meet your fellow guests. The relatively spacious and mostly bright rooms have overhead fans as well as air-con (important if, like us, you hate sleeping with the air-con on), and the whole place is spotlessly clean. It's run by a friendly American-Vietnamese couple who offer sound advice without trying to sell you anything. You can also rent motorbikes for a few dollars a day.
