Lonely Planet Review
You might not find the sort of peace that will have you walking in the steps of the Buddha, but the Peace Hotel does offer you a room at the core of the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker district within stumbling distance of most of the bars, restaurants and travel cafes.
As you'd expect for this amount of money, the Peace Hotel is an unpretentious but solid option for budgeteers. The rooms are clean and comfortable enough, with the usual air-con, cable TV, mini-bar and IDD phone. Of the 12, only those at the front have windows and they are not as noisy as you might expect for the location. There is no lift, so be prepared to climb. For all its modesty, though, the atmosphere in the Peace is refreshingly laid back and friendly - almost peaceful. There is the inevitable sales office in the foyer offering tours around Vietnam, but the staff won't pester you too much and Mr Thoi is a mine of information. And perhaps the best recommendation of all, guests have been giving positive feedback on the place for years.
