Lonely Planet Review
The savvy women who run the Yellow House hotel have made it into one of the most popular budget joints in the Pham Ngu Lao area.
Like so many small hotels around the backpacking mecca of Pham Ngu Lao, the Yellow House isn't going to have you writing awed descriptions to the folks back home. Some of the singles are microscopic - you can forget about swinging a cat. There's no lift and the fan of the room we stayed in (you can choose between fan and air-con) needed surgery to correct the annoying constant clatter. But for all this, Yellow House (though there's not much yellow about) is a more personal experience than many of its rivals. The staff is friendly, helpful and happy for guests to use the two ADSL-connected computers in the lobby for nothing. There's cheap laundry and fair advice on tours without the hard sell. And the lobby is a great place to meet other travellers, especially over breakfast, which is included in the room price.
