Lonely Planet Review

This hotel is located on a peaceful Yau Ma Tei side street, a short walk from the charming Tin Hau temple. In contrast to the nonstop action that confronts you when walking out of a hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, here you're greeted by the sight of locals calmly going about their daily business.

It is true that the Dorsett Seaview regularly receives large tour groups from China, so it's not always easy to keep the peace here. This tall, thin building does have a bit of a squeezed feel to it, with smallish rooms and a diminutive lobby that in layout resembles the tidy entrance to a bank. But overall the rooms are comfortable and it really is hard to beat the location, near the Temple St Night Market and down the road from an MTR station entrance. The best of the water views promised by the hotel's name are from the convivial Sea View Lounge, located on the top floor.

Author Tip

Adjacent to the Tin Hau temple is the Public Square Street Rest Garden, where old men gather during the day to play board games and while away the hours. The locals may seem curious about strangers, even proprietorial about their park, but that's only because not many tourists stay here.
