Lonely Planet Review
This excellent bargain of a hotel is in North Point, a small and slightly dishevelled district northeast of Causeway Bay. Transport into Central is not a problem, however, as the Ibis is a few doors down from North Point MTR station.
The Ibis' 31-storey building is a collage of jagged lines and pastels - very much a 1980s YMCA style of architecture - and the modestly sized rooms repeat this theme. Decor aside, the rates are tremendous. Don't bother with the 'Standard' rooms. The 'Harbour View' rooms have some spectacular vistas of water and faraway, cloud-shrouded peaks, though your eyes do initially have to stretch out over a car park and a ferry terminal. The hotel also has a small but useful business centre and a concrete-floored 2nd-floor cafe that gets too noisy to be enjoyable.
