Lonely Planet Review
What it lacks in style and kudos, the YMCA-run Salisbury more than makes up for with excellent rates and amenities, a great location near an MTR station and the Star Ferry at the southern end of bustling Kowloon, and, for those fortunate enough to get them, some rooms with brilliant views of Victoria Harbour.
The rooms here are exceptionally well fitted out for a place with prices that hit the budget range when promotional deals are offered. Comfortable beds, mini-bars, cable TV and high levels of cleanliness are the norm for 'Standard' rooms; for a wonderful extra, rent one of the 'Harbour View' rooms. There are also four-bed dorms, a good-value cafe downstairs, a self-service laundry, swimming pool and fitness centre, plus easygoing but professional service. For all these reasons, the Salisbury is immensely popular and often overrun by conferences and families. Needless to say, it pays to book well in advance.
