Quotes This quiet budget option is located right in the heart of Sultanahmet, with cheerful rooms and a homey environment. The downstairs cafe-cum-sitting-room is the real drawcard here. It's a cosy area decked out with kilims (woven rugs) and cushion-covered benches - here you feel just like you're visiting Grandma.

Rooms here are bright and roomy. Most are pleasantly decorated with custard-yellow or blue walls, kilims and colourful linen. Bathrooms are good too. Room Nos 4, 5, 6 and 8 have reasonable views over the Sea of Marmara. Rooms are non-smoking, except for the three which have kooky little cubicles you can close off to puff away while you enjoy the view. Weird. We'll leave it up to the imaginations of nonsmokers for how they use these spaces. Dorms are four- to six-bed and roomier than most in the area. These are in the basement, but have high windows so are light enough. Shared bathrooms are so-so and will need to be renovated soon. There's a small grungy terrace upstairs, but it does have good views over the Sea of Marmara (only). Book well ahead for the doubles.

From Ataturk airport to the Hostel The distance between the Ataturk Istanbul airport and Antique Hostel - Guesthouse is 18 km. The best and cheapest way to get to the Hostel - Guesthouse is to take the light metro from the airport. From the Airport or the Bus Station (Otogar), take the Metro to ''AKSARAY'. As you leave the Metro Station, go through the underground passage and straight onto the pedestrian walkway, then walk over a bridge and down the steps to reach the 'YUSUF PASA' Tram Stop. Transfer onto the tram and get off at 'SULTANAHMET'' (the 5th stop). Follow the tram line down (passing several restaurants on the left and the Information Office on the right) to the intersection and traffic lights; cross over to the right and enter the courtyard between St. Sophia on your left and the Blue Mosque a little further on your right. Go all the way through the courtyard and turn to your right at the end. Take the first left at the taxi stop and follow the street all the way down passing the Four Seasons Hotel on the left ...walk down and then end of the street turn right you will see on the left Antique Hostel & Guesthouse sign. (RED establishment) From Sabiha Gokcen airport to the Antique Hostel SULTANAHMET The distance between the Sabiha Gokcen airport and Antique HoSTeL - Guesthouse is 65 km Taxi Taxis are available from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to the historic Sultanahmet district. The journey time may change according to the time of day and traffic conditions(road works,diversions etc), but allow between 60 and 90 minutes.Cost can vary, but a typical fare during the day is around 84,8 YTL (?35). Havas Bus Services To get to the Sultanahmet which is the principal tourist area in the city, you can take the "AirportHavas shuttle bus service and get off at "Kadiköy". It costs 7,00YTL.Then, you can take ferries from Kadiköy and get off at Eminönü. Trams run on the route between Eminönü, Sirkeci, Sultanahmet, Beyazit, Aksaray, Topkapi and Zeytinburnu. In keeping with the kilim theme of Antique, why not visit one of the lesser-known sights in the area, the Carpet & Kilim Museum by the Blue Mosque? There are some superb specimens here. It may just whet your appetite enough so you're ready to run the gauntlet through Arasta Bazaar's carpet hustlers. This is the epicentre of serious carpet buying.
