This monster 20th-century palace took 3000 artisans some 14 years to carve from red sandstone. It's like a grand parliament building with beds, and is well worth a visit, if not a night of decadence in a remote palace wing. It has a tennis court, indoor swimming pool, lush lawns and several restaurants. Décor is somewhere between Art Deco and nonironic 1970s gangster chic. Prices continue to soar, so it might be worth waiting for the off-season discount.
